I had the exact same experience at this place 5 years ago. The chicken dish I had was horrible. Service pathetic. Not really authentic Thai anyway; more like the "central Minnesota version" of Thai with typical Chinese style dishes. Interesting to note that not much has changed. We ate at Sawatdee for lunch today. TheSue's Egg Rolls we ordered were tasty. However, both my significant other and I immediately noted the chicken in our Pad Thai was horrible. It tasted like it had been cooked or reheated in the microwave. Our server did not come back to our table until we had finished eating the noodles (which were good and had the appropriate amt of spice). We then told her about the chicken and its bad taste, etc. After the waitress commented that if we had not eaten so much of the dish, they could have adjusted our bill. I commented that she had not come back to the table after bringing the dish, and that I had not felt as though we should have had to of gone and found our server to complain. She had the manager come to our table and her response was that we had eaten too much of the dish. We had left all of the chicken (except the two bites we had tasted),on the side of the plate. She offered to adjust the cost of the dish by 10% (not even enough to cover the added cost of the chicken!). We cancelled our order of the Thai custard and sticky sweet rice, paid our bill and left- vowing not to return again for two reasons: Poor quality food, and even more importantly, poor customer service. Had we felt as though the manager had cared and showed us this by either adjusting our bill appropriately, or having offered us a dessert, I would have been willing to return for a subsequent time.
