Air Travelers Get Food Delivered To Their Gate

On the go travelers at the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport can now have food delivered to them right at their departure gate.

A new smart phone application for iPhones and Androids called B4YOUBOARD allows you to order from three MSP restaurants - French Meadow Bakery & Cafe, Rock Bottom Restaurant and Chili's Too! Food will be delivered to you within twenty minutes of ordering (at least that's the goal).

The service (available in Terminal 1 - Lindbergh only) is available from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and there is no delivery surcharge, though I think you would want to tip. If the food is late or your plane leaves early your money is refunded.

The app is a free download at Android Market and Apple's App Store. It is the result of a partnership between travel dining company HMSHost Corporation and technology company Airside Mobile.

Company spokesperson Susan Goyette says, “As technology grows, I think you’ll see people more and more enjoying the ability to order ahead and have the meal brought to them at the gate and then board the plane.”

B4YOUBOARD is also available at JFK Airport and is due to hit Chicago's O'Hare within a month.
